Rare vintage Vespas to gather in Vietnam

The Vietnam Scooter Fest 2026, scheduled for 8-9/8 in Ho Chi Minh City, is set to showcase a collection of vintage Vespas spanning the brand's 80-year history, from 1946 to 2026.

Rare vintage Vespa models, produced between 1946 and 1990, will be brought together by collectors and enthusiasts across Vietnam. This exhibition is a central feature of the Vietnam Scooter Fest (VSF) 2026, an event scheduled for early august.

"Most enthusiasts own only one or a few models," stated Hoang Cuong, a representative of the VSF 2026 organizing committee. "At this event, we aim to connect and display a collection of prominent Vespa models from past to present, like a miniature museum for everyone to visit."

VSF 2026 stands as one of Vietnam's largest events connecting the scooter community, which comprises enthusiasts of two-wheeled vehicles characterized by a flat footboard and an engine located at the rear or under the seat. While Vespa owners form the core of this group, Lambretta and other brands are also represented.

A highlight of VSF 2026 is that, beyond displaying original models produced in the 40s and 50s, many customized versions will also be featured. Vespa Vietnam will also unveil a series of special 80th-anniversary editions for the Sprint line.

In addition to judging original and customized models, several artifacts will be auctioned at the event to raise funds for charity, supporting community projects in Vietnam.

Beyond local vintage scooter owners and enthusiasts, the event will also host Vespa clubs and groups from Thailand and the Philippines. An "old Saigon" ambiance is also expected to be recreated at this event.

Vespa is a motorcycle brand under the Piaggio Group (Italy). The first Vespa models appeared in Vietnam around 1954, brought by the French and various traders.

With its fashionable design and rich brand history, Vespa has a large fan base worldwide. In Vietnam, many vintage Vespa clubs and groups exist, primarily based in Ho Chi Minh City.

For new vehicles, Vespa positions its products in the premium segment, with prices higher than the market average. The most accessible model is the Sprint, starting from 85,9 million VND. A direct competitor to Vespa is Lambretta, a fellow Italian brand. The cheapest Lambretta model, the X125, starts from 95,2 million VND.
