On 26/5, a three-wheeled vehicle overturned on National Highway 48 Quy Chau after its driver made a sudden maneuver to avoid a young boy. The incident occurred when the boy, who had been standing on the roadside, unexpectedly darted across to the opposite side. The three-wheeled vehicle was only about 20 m away when the child ran into its path, forcing the driver to swerve sharply to prevent a collision. The vehicle consequently overturned, and the driver's condition remains unknown.
Fortunately, no vehicles were approaching in the opposite lane at the time, which prevented a multi-vehicle collision.
This incident highlights critical driving skills, particularly when navigating national highways through densely populated areas. Drivers should maintain a moderate speed, observe their surroundings broadly, anticipate potential situations early, and issue warnings if they suspect any unusual activity.
Parents must also play a role by teaching young children safe road behavior. Children should be instructed not to cross the road alone or in areas without designated pedestrian crossings. Due to their active nature and limited ability to judge vehicle speed and distance, children often act impulsively, making parental guidance crucial.
Recently, numerous accidents have resulted from children's impulsive road-crossing behavior. Adults should increase supervision of children, especially during summer vacation.
