The oto industry is resolving inventory levels from last winter's low season, but four brands from a U.S. automaker are moving in the opposite direction.
The U.S. oto industry has a useful metric called days' supply, or estimated days of inventory, and currently, this indicator is not favorable for Stellantis. After struggling with excessive inventory across the U.S., the company made progress in 2025, significantly reducing inventory for its Chrysler, Jeep, Ram, and Dodge brands.
However, that improvement did not last. Inventory levels for these four brands increased well beyond the industry average, with Dodge leading the negative trend.

Late april data from Cox Automotive shows the U.S. oto industry average was 78 days' supply, down one day from 79 and significantly lower than the peak of 95 days in january and february. The overall industry trend is positive. Stellantis is not, and its four U.S. brands are still holding more vehicles than their dealerships can sell.
Dodge is in the most disadvantageous position with a 142-day supply of inventory as of late april. Chrysler and Ram are both at 135 days, followed by Jeep at 128 days.
The next brand not part of Stellantis also facing substantial inventory is Buick, currently at 119 days. Other brands with higher than average figures include: Mini (113), Mitsubishi (109), Lincoln (106), and Genesis (104).
As in the previous month, several oto manufacturers had inventory levels below the industry average. Toyota had a 36-day supply of inventory, and Lexus had 38 days.
Other brands below average include: Honda (48), Cadillac (64), Infiniti (65), Chevrolet (72), Audi (72), Kia (76), BMW (77), and Subaru (78). In march, Porsche was also below average at 78 days, but has since increased to 80 days.
Cox Automotive data also shows the average listing price for a new vehicle increased by 0,9% in april to 49.025 USD. This may have influenced another notable figure for the month, with total new vehicle sales falling from 1,115 million units in march to 1,093 million units in april.
