On 8/8, Volkswagen Vietnam opened three new dealerships in Ho Chi Minh City, following the first Urban Store model in Asia. At the event, the German automaker launched a mid-cycle upgrade for its Touareg SUV. The two new versions include the Highline, priced at 3.099 billion VND, and the R-Line, priced at 3.399 billion VND, bringing the total number of versions in this line to 4.
The two new 2025 Volkswagen Touareg versions have slightly different appearances compared to the Elegance and Luxury versions previously sold. The biggest change is the headlight design with three separate lenses and positioning lights. The taillights have also been changed with a horizontal LED strip, a current trend in the automotive market.

The interior of the new Touareg doesn't have many visual changes, as the manufacturer retains the arrangement of details. The highlight is the increased number of amenities.
In addition to the features of the Luxury version, the Highline version also has matrix headlights with intelligent features, welcome lights, guide-me-home lights, and a red illuminated Volkswagen logo. It also features 18-way power-adjustable front seats with 3 memory positions, new 20-inch wheels, and Vienna leather upholstery.
The most expensive of the variants is the R-Line version, with some exterior tweaks for a more masculine and sporty style. The car has a black-painted grille, paddle shifters on the steering wheel, a premium Dynaudio 13-speaker sound system, Varenna leather seats, and soft-close doors. The front seats have carbon fiber trim and 20-inch gray wheels.
There are no engine changes on the two new Touareg versions. The car still uses a 2.0 turbocharged engine with 251 horsepower at 5,000-6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 370 Nm at 1,600-4,500 rpm.
The car has an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. It offers seven driving modes: Eco, Comfort, Normal, Sport, Offroad, Snow, and Custom.
The VW Touareg uses an automatically controlled center differential to distribute power. The car's differential can distribute up to 70% of traction to the front axle and 80% to the rear axle.
With a price range of 2.368-3.399 billion VND, the Volkswagen Touareg is a lower-cost option compared to the luxury car lines on the market that it aims to compete with, such as the BMW X5 (from 4.239 billion VND), the Mercedes GLE (4.409 billion VND), or the Volvo XC90 (from 3.89 billion VND).
In terms of size, in ascending order, the Touareg is smaller than the Teramont. However, in terms of price, the Teramont is lower, at 2.138 billion VND. The Teramont, with its spacious interior, is aimed at family customers. The Touareg, on the other hand, focuses on high technology to compete with luxury cars. The Touareg's driving experience is also significantly more enjoyable than the Teramont's.
Volkswagen is having its most successful business years ever in Vietnam, thanks to its high-riding vehicles and its flagship sales MPV, the Viloran. In addition to three new Urban Store showrooms in Ho Chi Minh City, the company has opened two more showrooms in provinces such as Dong Nai and Thanh Hoa, bringing the total number of German automaker's dealerships to 20 as of August.
According to a representative of the Volkswagen distributor, the Urban Store showroom model is built according to the German automaker's global standards but allows for the integration of many details based on local culture. This aims to create closeness with customers and increase brand recognition in each market.
