CIMB Vietnam repositions privilege program for priority customers

CIMB Vietnam has adjusted its criteria for identifying priority customers and introduced a suite of financial solutions with enhanced benefits, aiming to elevate the customer experience.

CIMB Vietnam announced the repositioning of its CIMB Preferred program on 10/12, a strategic move to broaden access to specialized financial services. This initiative includes lowering the asset under management (AUM) threshold for preferred customers to 500 million VND. This change aims to serve a wider segment of clients, including professionals, mid-level managers, and individual investors.

This strategic adjustment responds to the projected growth of Vietnam's middle class, which KPMG's Vietnam 2026 Outlook report forecasts to increase by 23,2 million people by 2030. The rise of this segment, characterized by stable incomes and high technological literacy, necessitates that banks offer transparent and flexible financial management solutions beyond traditional incentives.

A representative from CIMB Vietnam stated, "Lowering the AUM threshold and repositioning the CIMB Preferred program provides more customers with access to financial privileges, supporting them in building balanced and sustainable lives."

The repositioned program introduces new financial benefits tailored to cross-border transactions and daily spending. The bank now offers a 0% foreign currency conversion fee for its Visa Revi international credit card and international money transfer services. This allows customers greater control over expenses when traveling, on business trips, or supporting relatives studying abroad.

Phan Anh, 36, from TP HCM, a CIMB priority customer, shared, "My family travels abroad frequently. Waiving foreign currency transaction fees helps me manage payments for flights, hotels, and shopping more proactively, allowing me to save and optimize overall costs."

Additionally, CIMB Preferred customers receive up to a 20% cashback on credit card spending categories such as travel, shopping, dining, supermarkets, and transportation. According to CIMB, this benefit is particularly valuable during the year-end season, when travel, festive activities, and shopping increase, helping customers manage costs while maintaining high-quality experiences.

The international Visa Debit card offers an unlimited 1% cashback on daily spending. For savings, customers benefit from preferential interest rates, with Smart Deposit accounts offering up to 4,75% annually, optimizing idle funds.

Beyond financial advantages, CIMB has expanded its experiential privileges for priority customers, totaling up to 10 million VND annually. These benefits span various areas, are flexible, and are updated seasonally to align with consumer trends. They include complimentary golf services at nearly 50 courses nationwide and health check-up packages at Vinmec and CarePlus. At branches in Hanoi and TP HCM, CIMB Preferred customers receive service in dedicated areas with direct support from customer relationship managers.

According to a CIMB Vietnam representative, the repositioning of the privilege program aims to meet the increasingly diverse needs of priority customers. It also seeks to foster long-term relationships, providing a more comprehensive financial and lifestyle experience, thereby realizing its vision of "One bank for You."
