On the morning of 31/3, Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) listed gold bar prices at 173 - 176 million VND per tael, an increase of 2,2 million VND compared to yesterday. Other major brands also raised their gold bar prices accordingly.
SJC's plain gold ring prices also rose by 2 million VND per tael this morning, reaching 172,8 - 175,8 million VND. Mi Hong simultaneously quoted plain ring prices at 173,5 - 176 million VND for buying and selling. Phu Nhuan Jewelry Company (PNJ) listed plain rings at 173 - 176 million VND per tael.
Compared to the peak of 191 million VND established in early March, current gold prices are 8% lower. Major brands are still experiencing a shortage of gold bars and plain rings, releasing limited quantities to the market daily.
On the international market, spot gold prices briefly increased by 100 USD to 4.600 USD per ounce before slightly dropping to the 4.570 USD range. Converted using Vietcombank's selling exchange rate, domestic gold prices remain nearly 30 million VND per tael higher than global prices.
Domestic silver prices this morning were stable around 2,7 - 2,8 million VND per tael by major brands, equivalent to 72,5 - 75 million VND per kg.
In the foreign exchange market, commercial banks slightly increased USD prices, which remain at the permissible ceiling. Vietcombank listed USD buying and selling rates at 26.107 - 26.357 VND; BIDV quoted 26.137 - 26.357 VND.
On the black market, USD prices are currently sold by foreign currency exchange points in TP HCM at over 27.000 VND per dola.
