Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade (Vietcombank) recently announced the early retirement request from deputy general director Nguyen Van Tuan.
In his letter, Tuan stated that this is a well-considered personal desire to manage his private affairs. He added that the decision also facilitates personnel arrangements and ensures the bank's operational stability.
"I believe this is the appropriate time to organize my work and request early retirement," he wrote in the letter signed on 30/9.
Tuan stated he is aware that the handover of responsibilities for senior leadership must be thorough, ensuring continuity in management. He affirmed he would fulfill all assigned duties until his retirement date.
Tuan, 57, was appointed deputy general director of Vietcombank in mid-1/2025. Upon assuming the role last year, he pledged to "contribute as long as I have strength" to his assigned duties, particularly in optimizing and automating bank operations.
Tuan holds a master of business administration degree from Universite Libre de Bruxelles. In 2015, while serving as Vietcombank's deputy general director, he was transferred to become chairman of Vietnam Construction Bank (VNCB) after the State Bank of Vietnam acquired the bank for 0 dong. VNCB was compulsorily transferred to Vietcombank in 10/2024 after changing its operating model and rebranding as CBBank. Tuan returned to Vietcombank as deputy general director in early 2025.
Vietcombank currently has one general director and 9 deputy general directors. Some deputy general directors also concurrently serve as specialized division directors.
