VinEnergo partners with GE Vernova for Hai Phong LNG power project

GE Vernova to supply 9HA.02 gas turbines and H78 generators for phase one of VinEnergo's 1,600 MW Hai Phong LNG power project.

VinEnergo Energy Joint Stock Company, a Vingroup member, and US-based GE Vernova recently signed a technology selection agreement for the Hai Phong LNG Power Plant project. Under the agreement, GE Vernova will provide two 9HA.02 gas turbines and two H78 generators for phase one, which has a capacity of 1,600 MW. This aims to ensure the plant's operation by late 2030.

The signing ceremony took place in Hanoi as part of "The Energy of Change Summit 2026" event.

Nguyen Anh Khoa, VinEnergo General Director, stated, "Our collaboration with GE Vernova, a leading global supplier, to deploy the most advanced technologies not only ensures optimal operational efficiency for the Hai Phong LNG Power Plant but also reaffirms our strong commitment to leading emission reduction and building a sustainable green industrial and energy ecosystem."

Ramesh Singaram, President and CEO of Gas Power, Asia-Pacific, GE Vernova, shared that by deploying the 9HA.02 gas turbines and H78 generators, the company delivers advanced technologies that help reduce emissions, achieve industry-leading efficiency, and ensure reliable large-scale power generation. He added, "This partnership demonstrates our commitment to sustainable energy solutions and supports Vietnam in accelerating its transition to a more sustainable energy landscape."

GE Vernova's 9HA.02 gas turbine technology offers high efficiency, fast startup capability, and flexible load adjustment, allowing it to effectively meet fluctuating power demand. With a combustion chamber temperature exceeding 1,400 degrees C, this system enhances power generation efficiency. Additionally, the 9HA.02 turbine features flexible fuel capability, able to burn hydrogen up to 50% by volume, with a roadmap towards 100% hydrogen in the future. This demonstrates its alignment with sustainable energy development goals.

GE Vernova is a US-based energy group specializing in providing power generation, wind, gas, and grid technologies and solutions to many countries worldwide. The company owns a portfolio of high-efficiency gas turbine and power generation technologies, while also developing emission reduction solutions and supporting the transition to sustainable energy systems. GE Vernova currently implements energy projects in over 100 countries, serving millions of customers and playing a crucial role in the global energy transition.
