VinEnergo Energy Joint Stock Company, a Vingroup member, and US-based GE Vernova recently signed a technology selection agreement for the Hai Phong LNG Power Plant project. Under the agreement, GE Vernova will provide two 9HA.02 gas turbines and two H78 generators for phase one, which has a capacity of 1,600 MW. This aims to ensure the plant's operation by late 2030.
The signing ceremony took place in Hanoi as part of "The Energy of Change Summit 2026" event.

GE Vernova's 9HA.02 gas turbine technology offers high efficiency, fast startup capability, and flexible load adjustment, allowing it to effectively meet fluctuating power demand. With a combustion chamber temperature exceeding 1,400 degrees C, this system enhances power generation efficiency. Additionally, the 9HA.02 turbine features flexible fuel capability, able to burn hydrogen up to 50% by volume, with a roadmap towards 100% hydrogen in the future. This demonstrates its alignment with sustainable energy development goals.
