Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) announced the establishment decision on 2/6. Associate Professor, Doctor, Physician Nguyen Thanh Hiep, former principal of Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine, has been appointed principal of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
According to Nguyen Thanh Hiep, the new medical school signifies an expansion of HUTECH's health sciences training structure. The school plans to introduce additional majors in traditional medicine and odonto-stomatology in the future.
A week ago, the Ministry of Education and Training granted HUTECH permission to open a medical major, adding to its existing programs in pharmacy, nursing, and medical laboratory technology.
Previously, Ho Chi Minh City had three public universities specializing in this field: Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine, and the School of Health Sciences (Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City).
Some other private universities with health sciences programs include Van Lang, Hong Bang, Nguyen Tat Thanh, and Gia Dinh.
