Nearly 90 private schools in Hanoi consider academic transcripts for 10th grade

All 89 private high schools consider academic transcripts for 10th-grade admission, with over half also utilizing scores from the department of education’s exams.

Hanoi currently has approximately 100 private high schools. Of these, 89 schools have received approval for their 10th-grade enrollment targets for the 2026-2027 academic year, according to an announcement on 14/4 from the Department of Education and Training.

These schools aim to enroll 34,000 10th-grade students, all of whom will be evaluated based on their academic transcripts. Additionally, 55 of these schools will also incorporate the results from the city’s public 10th-grade entrance exams. Some institutions, such as: Newton, Vinschool, and Olympia, use academic transcripts as a preliminary screening condition, requiring students to complete additional competency assessments or private interviews.

The list of private and high-quality schools recruiting 10th-grade students in Hanoi for 2026 is as follows:

This year, 147,000 students in Hanoi are graduating from junior high, marking an increase of 20,000 compared to last year. The enrollment target for public 10th-grade classes is over 78,300, which is equivalent to 55% of the total.

Private high schools will accept student applications from 20/4 to 27/6. The department emphasized that these schools must publicly disclose their tuition fees and all other charges for the entire academic year, ensuring no unauthorized collections.
