Hanoi currently has approximately 100 private high schools. Of these, 89 schools have received approval for their 10th-grade enrollment targets for the 2026-2027 academic year, according to an announcement on 14/4 from the Department of Education and Training.
These schools aim to enroll 34,000 10th-grade students, all of whom will be evaluated based on their academic transcripts. Additionally, 55 of these schools will also incorporate the results from the city’s public 10th-grade entrance exams. Some institutions, such as: Newton, Vinschool, and Olympia, use academic transcripts as a preliminary screening condition, requiring students to complete additional competency assessments or private interviews.
