Preschool teacher suspended after 'hair-pulling' student video

A preschool teacher has been suspended from teaching after parents released a video alleging she pulled a student's hair at school.

Bac Ha Kindergarten leadership in Thanh Sen Ward announced at midday on 14/4 a two-day suspension, allowing authorities to verify the parents' allegations.

The video, recorded during yesterday's Nemo 1 class (4 years old), shows a boy teasing a classmate. The teacher then approached, made contact with the child's head, and pulled their hair, causing the child to look down.

Parents discovered the incident through camera footage, which they extracted and posted on social media, drawing significant attention. The family reported the child is well, but they are keeping the child home pending a resolution.

The teacher explained to the school that she did not hit the student, but rather held the child's head, turning it back and forth while asking, "Why aren't you studying?" Thanh Sen Ward leadership described the action as "unprofessional conduct, but not yet at the level of violence."

Circular 28/2026, outlining professional standards for preschool teachers, from the Ministry of Education and Training, emphasizes: love for the profession, fair treatment, respect for and protection of children's rights, and emotional management skills.

Bac Ha Kindergarten is a public school, currently operating 14 classes with approximately 550 students.
