Top scorer achieves 1,098 out of 1,200 points in VNUHCM's competency assessment

A top scorer achieved 1,098 out of 1,200 points in the first phase of the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City's competency assessment, outperforming nearly 133,500 candidates.

On 16/4, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNUHCM) announced the preliminary results for its first phase competency assessment.

The average score among candidates was 682 points. The lowest score recorded was 27 points, while the highest reached 1,098. The score distribution closely resembles a normal distribution, with both the mean and median scores at 682 points. Approximately 30% of candidates scored below 600 points, and only about 6% achieved 900 points or higher, indicating clear stratification.

Compared to last year, VNUHCM assessed that the 2026 score distribution showed a slight shift towards higher scores, ensuring effective differentiation. This indicates that candidates have adapted better to the new exam structure.

The indices for question difficulty and discrimination were good, with most questions falling within the average difficulty range and over half demonstrating very good discrimination.

The first phase competency assessment by VNUHCM was held on the morning of 5/4, across 15 provinces and cities, attracting nearly 133,500 candidates. Currently, 118 universities and colleges use these exam results for admissions.
