The University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, plans to admit 720 students this year through three primary methods: direct admission and priority admission based on regulations from the Ministry of Education and Training and Vietnam National University, Hanoi (2%); admission based on high school graduation exam results combined with international English certificates; and admission based on HSA competency test results. Additionally, there is a specific pathway for ethnic minority reserve candidates.
For the 2026 academic year, the admission quotas and subject combinations for the high school graduation exam method at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy are detailed below:
| No. | Program | Quota | Combination |
| 1 | Medicine | 300 | B00 (Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology) D08 (Mathematics, Biology, English) |
| 2 | Pharmacy | 180 | A00 (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry) D07 (Mathematics, Chemistry, English) |
| 3 | Odonto-Stomatology | 60 | B00, D08 |
| 4 | Medical Laboratory Technology | 60 | B00, D08 |
| 5 | Medical Imaging Technology | 60 | B00, D08 |
| 6 | Nursing | 60 | B00, D08 |
Candidates holding an international English certificate equivalent to IELTS 5.5 or higher can convert their score into an English subject score. This converted score is then combined with the high school graduation exam scores of two other subjects: mathematics and chemistry for the pharmacy program, or mathematics and biology for all other programs, for admission consideration.
The conversion rates are notably stricter this year compared to last year. An IELTS 5.5 now converts to 8 points, a decrease from 8,5 points previously. To achieve a 10-point conversion, candidates must now secure an IELTS 7.5, whereas an IELTS 7.0 was sufficient last year.
The updated IELTS conversion table for the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University, Hanoi for 2026 is presented below:
| No. | English Proficiency | Conversion to 10-point scale | |
| IELTS (Academic) | TOEFL iBT | ||
| 1 | 5.5 | 72-78 | 8 |
| 2 | 6.0 | 79-87 | 8,5 |
| 3 | 6.5 | 88-95 | 9 |
| 4 | 7.0 | 96-101 | 9,5 |
| 5 | 7.5-9.0 | 102-120 | 10 |
It is important for candidates to note that, even with converted scores, their high school graduation exam results must still meet the minimum admission threshold established by the Ministry of Education and Training.
For admission through the HSA competency test, the subject focus of the test varies by program. Candidates applying for medicine, odonto-stomatology, medical laboratory technology, medical imaging technology, and nursing programs must take a test with a biology topic. For the pharmacy program, the test must feature a chemistry topic.
Specific academic requirements apply to various programs: Candidates applying for medicine and odonto-stomatology must have an average biology score of 8 or higher in 12th grade, achieve an excellent academic performance for the entire 12th grade, and a total score of 20 or higher from the three high school graduation exam subjects in their admission combination (or mathematics, literature, and one other subject). The pharmacy program requires a 12th-grade chemistry score of 8. For the remaining programs, candidates need a biology score of 7, a good academic performance in 12th grade, and a total score of 16,5 or higher from the three high school graduation exam subjects.
Across all admission methods, in addition to priority points for specific groups and regions, candidates can receive a maximum of 3 bonus points out of 30 if they have achieved a third-place provincial-level award or higher.
The University of Medicine and Pharmacy's projected tuition fees for students enrolling next year range from 68,42 to 70 million VND for medicine and odonto-stomatology programs. Other programs will cost 53,2 million VND. Last year, the general tuition fee for all programs was 62,2 million VND.
