Vice principal disciplined for making students sweep schoolyard in the sun

An Thanh Secondary School's vice principal received a reprimand after instructing students to clean the schoolyard during midday heat.

On 25/12, Nguyen Hoai Nguyen, chairman of Van Duc Commune People's Committee, announced that the school disciplined the vice principal for violating internal regulations and those set by the Ministry of Education and Training. This reprimand is the least severe disciplinary action for public employees, which also includes warnings and dismissals.

Local authorities investigated the incident, finding that at approximately 1:50 p.m. on 2/10, the vice principal abruptly ordered teachers of classes 8A3 and 9A1 to halt lessons and send students to clean the schoolyard. The reason provided was that the designated cleaning zones for both classes contained lingering trash and leaves. Consequently, teachers had to reschedule and conduct makeup lessons during the 5th period on the morning of 6/10.

However, students from class 8A3 had already completed their schoolyard cleaning duties that morning. Furthermore, class 9A1 had been assigned different responsibilities and was not tasked with sweeping the school grounds.

Authorities concluded that the vice principal violated school regulations concerning student labor hours and teaching protocols. The investigation found that the vice principal abused authority and failed to uphold the ethical standards expected of an educator.
