What do 5.0 era students need to become global citizens?

Doctor Ngo Cong Khanh will share how to cultivate a global mindset, adaptability, and proactive integration starting from university in episode 5 of Live Talk "Sustainable Career Orientation 5.0".

Doctor Ngo Cong Khanh, Vice Head of the Business Talent Faculty at UEH.ISB Talent School, will share these insights in episode 5 of the Live Talk series "Sustainable Career Orientation 5.0 - Empowering Tomorrow." The episode, titled "University 5.0 - The Path from University Student to Global Citizen," will air at 8 PM on Saturday across UEH and VnExpress media channels.

According to Doctor Khanh, in the context of Education 5.0, "going global" is no longer limited by geographical distance. Students can now access international learning environments within Vietnam by proactively choosing suitable training institutions and being ready to adapt.

The speaker believes that an internationally integrated university environment extends beyond English-taught programs to include a multicultural learning ecosystem. Students can study with international lecturers, participate in cross-border projects, collaborate with foreign students, or engage in short-term and long-term exchange programs with international partner universities.

He stated that the crucial factor is not where young people study, but how they proactively engage with the global environment. Many students still view foreign language proficiency as the biggest barrier to international integration. However, the core issue often lies in hesitation and a lack of proactive connection. He suggests that by overcoming initial barriers, actively connecting, exchanging, and discussing with international peers, learners will gradually adapt to multicultural settings.

Doctor Ngo Cong Khanh also emphasized that the ability to integrate does not mean losing personal identity. On the contrary, Vietnamese culture can serve as a bridge for students to connect with international friends through cuisine, lifestyle, or daily life stories.

Beyond academics, the program also addresses the adaptation journey for students entering multinational work environments. According to the Doctor, international corporations seek candidates with expertise, strong foreign language skills, and highly value cultural adaptability, a proactive spirit, and professional conduct.

He believes students need early preparation through internships, teamwork skills, critical thinking, communication abilities in an international setting, and a readiness to adapt to the constant changes in the global labor market.

Concluding the program, Doctor Ngo Cong Khanh highlighted two critical factors for young people today: a global mindset and adaptability. According to him, these will be the foundation for Vietnamese students to confidently study, work, and thrive in international environments, even when starting their journey from a domestic university.
