6 types of seafood men should eat weekly

Salmon, shrimp, clams, abalone, squid, and oysters contain essential nutrients that boost male physiology and overall health.

Master, Doctor Doan Vinh Binh, from the Medical Information Center at Tam Anh General Hospital, TP HCM, advises that in addition to meat and vegetables, men should regularly consume certain nutrient-rich seafood. These foods benefit health and help prevent many diseases.

Oysters

100 g of oysters provide 47,8 mg of zinc, a vital mineral that stimulates testosterone production and improves sperm quality. Oysters also contain amino acids, vitamins E and C, and omega-3 fatty acids, which boost metabolism and enhance overall health. Furthermore, oysters can increase dopamine, a neurotransmitter that contributes to feelings of excitement in men.

Salmon

Salmon is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins D and B12, and high-quality protein. These nutrients improve blood circulation, stabilize hormones, and support physiological function. Salmon also provides the amino acid L-arginine, which converts into nitric oxide—a compound essential for erectile function and extending intercourse duration. Families can prepare salmon in various ways, such as porridge, grilled, or pan-seared.

Shrimp

Shrimp provides zinc, vitamins D and B12, calcium, and L-arginine. These components enhance testosterone production, improve sperm count and quality, and contribute to healthy muscle development. Additionally, selenium and astaxanthin in shrimp help men reduce fatigue and boost stamina.

Clams

Various types of clams, including blood clams, hairy clams, scallops, and regular clams, are rich in protein and minerals like manganese, iron, selenium, and zinc. These nutrients support testosterone production, which is crucial for increasing libido and sperm production in men.

Squid and Octopus

Squid and octopus are rich in taurine, which improves endurance, enhances physical activity, and reduces stress. These seafood options are also high in protein and provide numerous vitamins and minerals, including copper, iron, EPA, DHA, selenium, and vitamin B12. Their low-fat content further supports increased testosterone production.

Abalone

Abalone offers essential nutrients like zinc, iron, calcium, selenium, magnesium, and vitamins B1 and B2. These stimulate testosterone production and improve sperm quality. In traditional medicine, abalone is believed to nourish the kidneys, enhance male vitality, and alleviate physical weakness. It can be prepared in various dishes, including porridge, steamed, grilled with garlic butter, or stir-fried with mushrooms.

Doctor Binh emphasizes that while seafood is highly nutritious for men, it is crucial to select fresh products from reputable sources, prepare them thoroughly, and consume them two to three times weekly without overindulging. Men can also consider natural extracts such as eurycoma longifolia, French maritime pine bark, and ocean oysters to support the body's endogenous testosterone and nitric oxide production.
