Leaders from Amalga and CMC Global signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in Auckland, New Zealand, in August during the state visit of General Secretary and President To Lam. Under the agreement, Amalga will develop a hospital information system (HIS), which is software that integrates patient records, admission processes, surgical schedules, and various hospital data onto a single platform.

This new cooperation makes CMC Global, a Vietnamese company specializing in software development and digital transformation, Amalga's partner for providing and supporting HIS implementation locally. This aligns with Amalga's goal to expand its current hospital client base. Amalga has directly provided HIS to FV Hospital since its establishment and is currently deploying the system for several Sun Hospital projects in Hanoi and Phu Quoc (An Giang).

Niru Rajakumar, Chief Executive Officer of Amalga, explained that "the agreement outlines a strategic path to access a market investing heavily in digital health, precisely when our technology can create the greatest value". He emphasized that CMC Global's scale and local capabilities can bring the HIS closer to doctors and patients across the region.

Rajakumar further elaborated on the benefits: "When hospital systems are connected, patient records will follow patients from admission, through surgery, to discharge. This reduces duplication for doctors and minimizes delays for patients".

Echoing this sentiment, Nguyen Cao Cuong (Kent Nguyen), Vice President of CMC Group and Sales Director of CMC Global, highlighted the "strong alignment" between CMC Group's digital transformation initiatives and Amalga's experience in hospital software. He expressed hope that the partnership will enhance healthcare quality in Vietnam.

This agreement was one of three commercial collaborations announced in Auckland, alongside an aviation training program and other technology initiatives. These activities took place as two-way trade between New Zealand and Vietnam reached NZD 3.41 billion in the year ending March, a 70% increase over five years. This makes Vietnam New Zealand's 13th largest trading partner. The two countries are set to upgrade their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership from 2025.

Scott James, New Zealand Consul General and Trade Commissioner to Vietnam, who facilitated the connection between Amalga and CMC Global, stated that while food and fibers remain the core of the trade relationship, they observe a growing demand for New Zealand's expertise in digital health, high-tech agriculture, and smart infrastructure.
