After giving birth 10 years ago, Ms. Nhi’s weight gradually increased from 45 kg to 72 kg. Despite fasting, dieting, and high-intensity gym workouts after weaning her child, she could not lose weight.
Upon arriving at Tam Anh General Hospital TP HCM, she weighed 72 kg, was diagnosed with severe obesity, a BMI of 30, and high visceral fat measuring nearly 226 cm2. Doctor of First Degree Specialist Vo Tran Nguyen Duy, from the Department of Endocrinology - Diabetes, noted that the patient had a history of gestational diabetes, complications of acanthosis nigricans in her neck and nape, and significant psychological stress due to her weight.

According to Doctor Duy, sustainable weight loss requires correctly identifying the root cause of obesity and selecting an appropriate method. Ms. Nhi’s previous use of products of unknown origin had caused her body to become disordered, leading to her weight loss failures.
Based on her body type and daily routine, the doctor developed a personalized treatment regimen for Ms. Nhi. This regimen focused on three key elements: nutrition, exercise, and medication designed to increase satiety, reduce absorption, and promote fat elimination. With this approach, she did not need to fast to lose weight. Instead, she could perform moderate exercises suitable for her schedule, such as jumping rope, climbing stairs, and squats. She also divided her meals into 4-5 small portions daily, incorporating plenty of green vegetables, salads, fruits, and unsweetened fresh milk, with a preference for lean meats and healthy fats.

After the three-month treatment course, she successfully lost 17 kg. The darkened skin on her neck and nape lightened, and her figure became noticeably slimmer. "After losing weight, I feel and look a few years younger, and my body is much healthier," Ms. Nhi stated. The doctor confirmed that her endocrine disorders and diabetes were also well-controlled.
