Mother of three reverses biological age, shrinks waist by 15 cm

Once struggling with self-consciousness after her third child, Ms. Hoa reversed 10 years of biological age and reduced her waist by 15 cm through proper diet and exercise.

Nguyen Thi Hoa (born in 1982), residing in Phuc Yen, embarked on a challenging journey to transform her physique. After giving birth to her third child, her body underwent significant changes. Uncontrolled weight gain, coupled with autoimmune thyroiditis causing hypothyroidism, left her constantly fatigued and self-conscious about her appearance, which she described as "frumpy."

"I am 1,52 m tall but weighed nearly 55 kg, with a waistline reaching 82 cm. It felt like carrying a 'barrel of broth' in front of my stomach every day," Ms. Hoa shared. "My biggest concern was how to become healthy and set a lifestyle example for my three children."

Eager to regain her figure, she started a ketogenic (Keto) diet, which severely restricts carbohydrates. Over two months, she achieved her desired weight loss, but it came at a significant cost. Her body was constantly lethargic and lacked vitality due to severe carbohydrate deficiency. Her husband strongly opposed it, seeing her "punishing her body" instead of getting healthier. As soon as she returned to a normal diet, her weight quickly rebounded to its starting point.

The ketogenic (Keto) diet is a weight loss method that involves drastically reducing carbohydrates, increasing fat intake, and consuming moderate protein to force the body into a state of burning fat instead of sugar (ketosis). However, this diet also carries potential side effects, such as nutrient deficiencies, electrolyte imbalances, constipation, and kidney problems if not followed correctly or prolonged, according to Very Well Health.

In 6/2023, after six months of observation and learning from a friend, Ms. Hoa decided to join a body transformation program based on sustainable nutrition. Instead of eliminating food groups, she learned to eat correctly and sufficiently from four categories: animal protein, plant-based protein, fiber, and carbohydrates.

From 6/2023 to 9/2023, over a 90-day period, Ms. Hoa strictly followed the meal structure with a completely comfortable mindset. "What I liked most was not having to diet. I realized that my whole family had been eating incorrectly and lacking nutrients without knowing it. Now, our food consists of seasonal and regional vegetables and fruits, making it easy to prepare and economical," Ms. Hoa stated.

Alongside adjusting her diet, Ms. Hoa chose walking as her primary form of exercise. Starting with 5.000 steps daily, she now consistently maintains 10.000 steps.

According to her, walking is the "cheapest, easiest" exercise, yet it provides immense mental value. It not only helps burn energy but also serves as a time for her to reduce stress, connect with nature, and engage with those around her. The physical and mental lightness made her feel like she had rediscovered her "second youth."

Walking 10.000 steps daily is considered an exercise goal for many. While its effectiveness varies by individual, this exercise offers numerous overall health benefits, including reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease, strengthening lower body muscles, promoting effective weight loss, and improving mood and focus.

It is important to note that 10.000 steps is not the optimal goal for everyone. The ideal number of steps for each person can vary daily, weekly, and monthly, based on factors such as age, fitness level, weight, personal goals, and general physical activity habits. Beginners might start with fewer steps daily, while those engaging in short bursts of high-intensity activity might increase their step count.

The results after three months astonished even her. Her weight decreased from 54,8 kg to 49 kg, and her waist dramatically shrank by 15 cm (from 82 cm to 67 cm). Her bust and hips also became firmer and more toned.

Data from a bio-impedance scale—a device measuring the impact of aging on body function—recorded Hoa's biological age at around 32, 10 years younger than her chronological age at the time.

"While the concept of biological age still sparks debate in the medical community regarding precise measurement methods, the clear improvements in my energy and endurance are tangible evidence," the woman stated.

Ms. Hoa's transformation has influenced her entire family's lifestyle. Her children are more enthusiastic about "colorful" meals, rich in fiber and lean protein. She can even apply these eating principles when attending parties without worrying about regaining weight.

"From a homemaker who also managed a business and raised children, successfully transforming my physique not only made me healthier but also opened new career opportunities. I gained a side job directly from my own experience," Ms. Hoa happily shared.
