The patient was diagnosed with kidney stones about three years ago. Fearing surgery and concerned about treatment costs, he purchased products heavily advertised online, which promised to dissolve stones in one to two months. After using these products for a period, his condition did not improve; it worsened.
On 4/3, Master of Science, Doctor, Level 1 Specialist Tran Quoc Phong, Head of the Urology Unit at An Binh Hospital, stated that the patient was admitted to the emergency room with a kidney stone approximately 20 mm in size, which was obstructing his urinary tract. This is a dangerous condition that can destroy kidney function if not treated promptly.
Doctors performed surgery to remove the stone, resolve the obstruction, and preserve the patient's kidney function. Currently, the patient's health has stabilized, and he expressed regret for trusting misleading advertisements and missing the critical time for conventional treatment.

According to Doctor Phong, no medication can completely dissolve all types of kidney stones. Some medications only offer support in specific cases, particularly for small stones with specific compositions. Most kidney stones, especially calcium stones, cannot dissolve naturally with oral medication.
Current kidney stone medications primarily help reduce pain, relax ureteral muscles to aid the expulsion of small stones, and adjust the urinary environment to prevent further stone growth and reduce recurrence risk. Using online "stone dissolving drugs" can delay proper treatment, allowing stones to continue growing, leading to obstruction, infection, and kidney damage.
Individuals should seek early medical attention if they experience unusual symptoms such as flank pain radiating to the lower abdomen or groin, painful urination, frequent urination, cloudy or bloody urine; nausea, vomiting; and especially fever or chills, which are signs requiring emergency care. The doctor emphasized that correctly identifying the stone type, size, and impact level is crucial for appropriate treatment, rather than trusting unverified "miracle cures."
