On 2/5, authorities in Hoa Hiep commune discovered a 2-year-old boy in a coma with numerous bruises, prompting an immediate investigation. The victim was rushed to Ba Ria Hospital for emergency treatment and is gradually recovering. Local authorities are coordinating with relevant agencies to care for the child.

Hoa Hiep communal police are temporarily detaining Nguyen Thi Thanh Truc, 33, the boy's mother, and her partner Danh Chon, 30, for investigation. Initial findings indicate the boy was beaten by the two individuals. Truc and Chon had moved from the Mekong Delta to Phu Lam hamlet, Hoa Hiep commune, where they rented accommodation and worked as farm laborers for nearly half a month.

The motive for the alleged assault has not yet been disclosed.
