On 23/7, Chinese police handed over suspect Dan Hiers Jr., 53, to US law enforcement at Shanghai Pudong International Airport, following an extradition request.

Dan Hiers Jr. has been wanted by the US Marshals Service for years on charges of serious violent crimes, including sexual assault of a minor and his wife's murder. His name was also on the US Marshals Service's list of "15 most wanted fugitives."

Dan Hiers Jr. was wanted by the US Marshals Service with a reward of up to 25,000 USD.

According to records, the suspect previously worked for a police department in South Carolina. He was arrested in November 2004 after being suspended for sexual assault of a minor, but was later released on bail.

Dan was scheduled to appear at the police station on 15/3/2005, but he failed to show up. On the same day, Dan's wife was found dead at home with a gunshot wound to the head. Police charged Dan with his wife's murder and issued an arrest warrant, but he vanished.

Dan's case was featured on the television programs "America's Most Wanted" and "The Hunt with John Walsh."

After more than a decade, on 10/9/2018, a woman recognized her "former English teacher in China" as the wanted criminal after watching a news report on WCSC. She then contacted the media via Facebook.

Subsequently, Dan was arrested in Shanghai. He was living under the alias David Williams and working as an English teacher at a college.

The woman noted that her English teacher was well-known at school for being tall, handsome, and popular with female students, but he had a "very messy private life." The former student revealed that the teacher once pursued one of her friends, leaving a lasting impression on her.
