On 30/11/2025, at approximately 5 p.m., a 21-year-old man, armed with a knife, allegedly broke into a family home in Tat Kieu village, Khai Phong city, Ha Nam province, committing brutal murders. Two children, 6 years old and two years old, were present during the incident.
According to a village committee official, the motive stemmed from an online comment. The suspect and the pregnant victim were former middle school classmates who had not been in contact for nearly five years. They recently reconnected on Douyin, China's version of TikTok.
"The victim commented on his video, asking, 'After all these years, you still don't have a girlfriend'", the village official stated, adding that this remark deeply humiliated the suspect.
The eldest daughter-in-law of one victim recounted a distressing call from her 6-year-old daughter after the incident. The girl, sobbing, told her mother, "Grandma and auntie have been killed. Mom, come quickly, I'm so scared." When asked about the attacker, the girl described him as an unfamiliar man.
According to a Yzwb report on 6/2, the suspect surrendered to authorities after the killings, claiming he suffers from a mental disorder. The suspect confessed to entering the victim's home by passing through a neighbor's property. The victim's family believes this was a deliberate attempt to evade security cameras.

The victim's family stated their intention to seek the death penalty for the perpetrator, demanding immediate execution.
A lawyer from Van Dien Law Firm in Beijing noted that while the suspect's voluntary surrender after the crime could be a mitigating circumstance, the extreme brutality of the murders and their severe consequences are paramount. The lawyer suggested that the surrender might not stem from genuine remorse, but rather a calculated attempt to mitigate his punishment.
The lawyer further explained that based on preliminary investigations, the suspect's claims of depression and mania might constitute common personality disorders, which would likely be insufficient for an exemption from criminal responsibility. Comprehensive forensic reports are essential to establish a complete chain of evidence.
Police authorities are currently investigating the case.
