Rmah Chin, a 49-year-old man from Gia Lai, was detained by Quang Ngai Provincial Police on 7/2 after being charged with murder. The charge stems from an incident where he allegedly threw 4 liters of gasoline on his wife and her nephew, causing a fire that severely burned both, after his wife prevented her nephew from buying more alcohol.

Investigations revealed that late on 20/6/2025, Rmah Chin had been drinking with his wife’s nephew at a hut belonging to Cong ty Cao su Duy Tan in Ia Toi commune, Quang Ngai (formerly Kon Tum). After they finished their alcohol, Chin asked the nephew to buy more, but his wife intervened, stopping the purchase.

Enraged, Chin grabbed a can containing over 4 liters of gasoline. He poured it onto the floor and then directly doused his wife and her nephew. A nearby wood stove ignited the fuel, causing flames to erupt and engulf the hut, leaving both victims with severe burns.

Following the incident, Chin fled the scene. He remained at large until late January, when he was located in Chu Puh commune, Gia Lai province. The Criminal Police Department of Quang Ngai Provincial Police, in a coordinated effort, apprehended him and brought him back to Quang Ngai.
