The investigation revealed that Nguyen Tuan Anh, burdened by accumulating debts, repeatedly demanded that his 60-year-old father, residing in Song Tri ward (formerly part of Ky Anh town), provide the family's land use rights certificate to mortgage for funds to settle his debts. His father consistently refused.

Authorities allege that on 3/2, driven by frustration, Nguyen Tuan Anh took a pair of scissors, over 13 cm long, and stabbed his father's left arm, inflicting severe injuries. The victim required hospitalization for treatment, sustaining a 3% health impairment.

Nguyen Tuan Anh was apprehended a few days after the incident.
