Destroying six urns of partner's family ashes for revenge

Driven by jealousy, Dang Viet Van destroyed six urns containing the ashes of his partner's deceased relatives as an act of revenge before fleeing.

On 13/5, Van, 46, residing in Ho Chi Minh City, was arrested by Phu Huu Commune Police, Dong Thap province, for violating remains.

According to the investigation, for the past three years, Van had lived as husband and wife with a 56-year-old woman in Phu Huu commune. Recently, Van became jealous, suspecting his partner was involved with another person.

Intending revenge, he destroyed six urns containing the ashes of her deceased relatives. The urns, previously kept at a pagoda, had recently been brought home for burial in a family tomb when they were destroyed.

Van fled the area. Two days later, he was apprehended by police while hiding in Tay Ninh.
