Teenager dies after national highway chase ends in barrier collision

A national highway chase involving over 20 teenagers on motorbikes resulted in the death of a 9th-grade male student after his vehicle collided with a toll booth barrier.

The Gia Lai Provincial Criminal Police Department is investigating an incident where a 15-year-old male student died after a motorbike chase on National Highway 1. On 12/5, the department is summoning individuals related to the case.

According to initial investigation, the incident stemmed from a personal conflict between two 17-year-old teenagers. On the evening of 7/5, they arranged a fight at Binh Dinh ward square. Subsequently, both invited many others to participate, forming groups of over 10 individuals each, aged 15-19, who were carrying numerous weapons.

Late that night, both groups rode motorbikes, engaging in a high-speed chase on National Highway 1. During the pursuit, one motorbike, carrying three individuals, unexpectedly crashed into the car lane barrier at the BOT Nam Binh Dinh toll booth. All three occupants were thrown onto the road.

The accident tragically resulted in the death of one of the three individuals, a 15-year-old.
