The trial is scheduled to take place from 13 to 15/5. Bui Dinh Khanh faces charges for four crimes: murder, illegal drug trafficking, illegal possession and use of military weapons, and intentional property damage.

Khanh was involved in an inter-provincial drug trafficking ring, dealing with large quantities of narcotics and equipped with numerous weapons.

On the evening of 17/4/2025, in Bai Chay ward, Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Provincial Police apprehended Nguyen Huu Dang transporting 16 bricks of heroin, weighing over 5,5 kg, in a car. Upon seeing their accomplice restrained, Bui Dinh Khanh's group used a car and military-grade firearms to attack the police unit, attempting to rescue Dang and reclaim the drugs.

During the pursuit and arrest of Khanh and his accomplices, Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Dang Khai, a 29-year-old officer from the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of Quang Ninh Provincial Police, was killed by gunfire. Two other officers were injured in the confrontation.

Khanh and his associates fled the scene. That same night, he used various means of transport to travel towards Hai Duong province. Around 0:30 on 18/4, near Phu Thai gas station in Kim Thanh district, Hai Duong province, the suspect boarded a container truck. By 10:30 on the same day, he purchased clothes at a store in Tam Nong district, Phu Tho province. After 22:00 on 18/4, Khanh was arrested in the bypass road area of Dong Hai ward, Thanh Hoa City.

Khanh has a previous conviction for property robbery. On social media, he frequently displayed images of lavish lifestyles, luxury cars, and expensive phones.
