Saigon police, in coordination with the traffic police department, are investigating the assault of a 72-year-old man by a 39-year-old car driver on 12/9. The incident, which occurred at the intersection of Nguyen Thi Minh Khai and Nguyen Binh Khiem streets, was captured on video and widely circulated online.

The dispute began when the elderly man on his motorbike and the 39-year-old driver of a Volkswagen encountered each other at the intersection. Initial reports suggest neither yielded to the other, leading to a verbal altercation.

The car driver exited his vehicle and proceeded to physically assault the elderly man, striking him repeatedly in the face and head. Bystanders intervened, and the Volkswagen driver left the scene. The incident was filmed by witnesses and subsequently shared on social media.

Police have confirmed the initial cause of the incident as a traffic dispute where neither the motorcyclist nor the car driver yielded to the other, resulting in a physical altercation.

The investigation is ongoing.
