Senior police official Amit Singh Bhaduria confirmed the unauthorized clinic has been shut down and that "the suspects are on the run but will be apprehended soon".
Munishra Rawat experienced severe abdominal pain on 5/12. Her husband took her to an unlicensed clinic operated by Gyan Prakash Mishra and Vivek Mishra in the Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh state.
Gyan diagnosed the woman with kidney stones and offered surgery for 20,000 rupees, a reduction from the initial price of 25,000 rupees.

Munishra's husband recounted that after reviewing the ultrasound results, Gyan stated the kidney stones had grown and immediate surgery was necessary. He claimed to have called other doctors for assistance, but none arrived, so he performed the surgery himself, stating he had learned the procedure from social media.
Gyan reportedly performed the surgery while intoxicated, following instructions from a YouTube video. He made severe incisions in the patient's abdomen, damaging her stomach, small intestine, and esophagus, while the kidney stones remained untouched.
Munishra died in agony the following evening.
Vivek Mishra, Gyan's nephew, assisted him during the surgery. Police stated Vivek works at a traditional medicine hospital in Raebareli city, and the illegal clinic reportedly operated for many years under the guise of his government job.
Following Munishra's husband's complaint, authorities inspected the clinic, ordered a post-mortem examination, and initiated an investigation against both operators on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
