Duyet, married since 2017, has three children aged 3, 5, and 8. Due to ongoing marital conflicts, his wife moved out in mid-June, leaving the children in his and their grandmother’s care.
Police allege that from early July onwards, Duyet repeatedly beat his children with bamboo sticks and phone charging cables. He also forced them to slap themselves and kneel for hours.
In one instance, around 6 p.m. on 4/7, Duyet allegedly beat his 5 and 8-year-old children with an 80 cm bamboo stick while filming the incident and sending the video to his wife via Zalo. He reportedly didn't allow them to eat dinner until 9 p.m. that night.
A month later, on 4/8, Duyet allegedly made his two children repeatedly slap themselves while he watched from a hammock. This alleged abuse continued from morning until after lunch, despite his mother’s attempts to intervene.
Authorities have removed the children from Duyet’s care to monitor their well-being. The police are gathering evidence and witness testimonies to build their case.
