Hanoi police question streamer Do Mixi over inappropriate behavior

Streamer Phung Thanh Do (Do Mixi) was summoned by Hanoi police regarding images and videos of him using prohibited substances and making inappropriate statements on social media.

Following a video circulating on social media for the past week, the Hanoi Police Department of Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention questioned key opinion leader (KOL) Do Mixi on 9/11.

Do Mixi admitted to being the person in the video and confirmed he used shisha on 9/3 at a bar.

According to authorities, this has been prohibited in Vietnam since 1/1/2025. As the KOL has a significant following among young people, his actions have impacted online order and security.

During the meeting, police discussed legal compliance, civic responsibility, and the social responsibilities of a public figure with Do Mixi.

The incident is still under investigation. Authorities are working to clarify the involvement of related organizations and individuals.

Hanoi police urged all KOLs, key opinion consumers (KOCs), and influencers with online presence to comply with the law and uphold their responsibilities, particularly regarding online behavior and communication.

They also encouraged internet users to be discerning, support KOLs’ meaningful activities, and promptly report inappropriate, uncivilized behavior, and legal violations online.

Previously, on 8/18, at the event "KOLs with the National Era of Reaching Out," authorities acknowledged the role of KOLs in shaping social perceptions, driving trends, fostering innovation, and promoting Vietnamese values globally. However, they emphasized the need for strict penalties to address influencers who exploit their fame to break the law, sell counterfeit goods, provide unclear information, or engage in inappropriate speech and lifestyles.

Do Mixi, whose real name is Phung Thanh Do, was born in 1989 and is from Cao Bang. Before becoming a famous streamer and YouTuber in Vietnam, he was a gamer, though not particularly well-known.

Before retiring from competitive gaming, Do Mixi founded Refund Gaming, a PUBG team that competed in major domestic and international tournaments with considerable success.

Do Mixi currently streams, creates YouTube content, and runs a business.
