On 17/10, Tran Thi Chi, 26 years old, was indicted by An Giang Provincial Police for abuse of trust to appropriate property. She was released on bail as she is raising a child under 36 months old.

According to the investigation, in 7/2025, Chi was hired at a gold shop in An Phu commune and tasked with managing the sale of 8 trays of 18K gold rings.

Needing money for personal spending, debt repayment, and gambling, from 3/9/2025 to 4/11/2025, Chi took a total of 70 gold rings and sold them, appropriating over 1.4 billion VND.

Upon discovering the missing gold, the shop owner reported the incident to the police.
