Man fined for defaming ex-wife on Facebook

A 37-year-old man was fined 7.5 million VND for using his girlfriend's Facebook account to post defamatory information about his ex-wife during a child custody dispute.

On 24/8, Binh Long ward police issued the fine for "Providing information that violates an individual's honor," citing Decree 15/2020.

According to authorities, the man used his girlfriend's Facebook account in early July to post information, images, and comments that defamed his ex-wife and her family during a disagreement over child custody.

The man admitted to the violation, voluntarily removed the posts, and pledged not to repeat the offense.

Dong Nai police warned individuals and organizations to strictly adhere to regulations regarding online information sharing. They emphasized the prohibition of using cyberspace for illegal activities.
