Murder suspect arrested at Tan Son Nhat airport

Hu YongChao, 34, a Chinese national and suspect in the murder of a man at a hotel in An Lac ward, was arrested by police at the airport as he prepared to flee.

Hu YongChao, a 34-year-old Chinese national, was apprehended at Tan Son Nhat International Airport on the evening of 21/3 as he attempted to flee. He is suspected of murdering a foreign man yesterday afternoon at a hotel on street 33, An Lac ward, Ho Chi Minh City.

The arrest was a joint effort between the Tan Son Nhat International Airport Border Police and the Criminal Police Department (PC02) of Ho Chi Minh City Police. Yesterday evening, during the ongoing investigation, PC02 had alerted the airport border police to identify and track a suspicious individual connected to the murder.

Using professional methods, airport border police determined that Hu YongChao had completed check-in procedures for a Shandong Airlines flight bound for Shandong, China. Security camera footage then pinpointed him sitting at a coffee shop on the second floor of the international terminal.

Police immediately approached and took Hu YongChao to headquarters for questioning. After several hours of interrogation, he confessed to the crime early this morning. The suspect revealed that the knife used in the murder was hidden on top of a drink cabinet at a nearby restaurant.
