On 20/12, the Da Nang City Criminal Police Department announced the indictment and arrest of Vo Van Tien, 39, residing in Thanh Ly 2 village, Thang Binh commune. He is under investigation for murder, under Article 123, Clause 1 of the Penal Code.

Tien and his wife, Phan Thi Ngoc Luan, 36, lived together in their home in Thanh Ly 2 village. During their marriage, prolonged conflicts arose, and Tien repeatedly acted violently towards his wife.

On 11/12, when Ms. Luan filed for divorce, Tien refused to accept it. He then conceived the idea of killing his wife and subsequently ending his own life.

On the morning of 12/12, Tien locked the house and attacked his wife, causing severe injuries. Ms. Luan managed to escape, called for help, and was rushed to the emergency room. Afterward, Tien attempted suicide by drinking pesticide, strangling himself with a rope, and inserting his hand into an electrical outlet, but his attempts were unsuccessful.

The investigative agency is continuing to clarify the incident.
