Police question man who shared distorted information from Le Trung Khoa's fanpage

A 65-year-old man admitted to sharing false information from Le Trung Khoa and Nguyen Van Dai's pages, citing limited awareness and a lack of vigilance.

On 23/1, the Internal Political Security Department of Da Nang City Police announced the discovery of a Facebook account belonging to a 65-year-old man residing in Hoa Xuan ward. The account had shared numerous articles and videos containing fabricated and distorted information about General Secretary To Lam and other Party and State leaders.

The information primarily originated from two fanpages, Le Trung Khoa and Nguyen Van Dai, which have been identified as having anti-State tendencies against the Vietnamese State.

At the police station, the man admitted to all his actions, stating that his limited awareness and lack of vigilance led him to receive and share the information on social media.

Authorities analyzed and clarified the nature and sophisticated propaganda tactics of hostile forces. They also highlighted the legal consequences and social impact of disseminating unofficial and false information online.

The man voluntarily removed all infringing content, posted a correctional article, apologized to the online community, committed not to re-offend, and agreed to comply with authorities' requirements.

The Internal Political Security Department of Da Nang City Police is consolidating the case file for legal processing.

On 31/12/2025, Le Trung Khoa, 55, from Thanh Hoa, and Nguyen Van Dai, 57, from Hung Yen, were tried in absentia by the Hanoi City People's Court. Each defendant received a 17-year prison sentence for 'making, possessing, disseminating, and propagandizing information and materials against the Socialist Republic of Vietnam State,' as stipulated in Clause 2, Article 117 of the Penal Code.

According to the indictment, since 2016, Le Trung Khoa used 12 pages and information channels to post numerous articles and videos. These contained distorted and slanderous content against the government, fabricated information to cause public unrest, and defamed Party and State leaders, all with the aim of subversion.

Nguyen Van Dai, from 7/2025 to 11/2025, used 9 social media accounts and channels to post and disseminate articles and videos that distorted and slandered the government, fabricated information, and caused social unrest. Prosecuting agencies determined these actions to be extremely serious, requiring strict handling for deterrence and general prevention.
