Yesterday, the Nhan Hoa Communal People's Committee temporarily suspended Nguyen Huu Hong, 48, from his position as principal of Dinh Son Secondary School and revoked his Party membership. This decision followed his prosecution by Nghe An Provincial Police over two weeks ago, which also placed him under house arrest.
A vice principal has been appointed to temporarily oversee the school's operations.

On 15/7, the Nghe An Provincial Police Criminal Investigation Department led a coordinated operation with police from Anh Son, Yen Xuan, Quynh Mai, and other localities nationwide. The operation resulted in the arrest of 13 individuals across two gambling rings. These rings were allegedly led by Nguyen Quy Cuong, 37, residing in Hue City, and Nguyen Duy Sy, 48, from Nhan Hoa commune.
The gambling activities were facilitated through master betting accounts originating overseas, which were then subdivided into smaller branches for leaders in Vietnam to organize online wagers. Authorities allege that from 11/6, coinciding with the start of the FIFA World Cup 2026, until the rings were dismantled, the two groups transacted over 6,6 billion dong.
Investigations identified Mr. Hong's connection to this network. He had previously served as principal of several secondary schools in the former Anh Son district for many years.
