On 8/8, Phuoc was arrested by An Giang provincial police on a special warrant for murder.

According to the investigation, three years ago, Phuoc joined the Rach Soi gang, which frequently clashed with the Rach Gia gang, led by Truong Em, over territory.

On 29/7/2022, Truong Em arranged a meeting with Phuoc's group at the Nguyen Thien Thuat roundabout in Rach Gia city to "talk." Both gangs brought dozens of members armed with homemade knives, swords, spears, and Molotov cocktails.

When Truong Em arrived, Phuoc's group ambushed them, forcing them to flee. Do Phu Huong, 20, one of Truong Em's men, was unable to escape with his companions and was stabbed and slashed by Phuoc's group, leaving him lying in the street. Huong was taken to the hospital by bystanders and survived with injuries assessed at 51%.

Recently, police cracked down on criminal gangs in Rach Gia, leading to a renewed investigation into the incident. Phuoc fled the area. On the afternoon of 7/8, he was arrested by police while hiding in Vinh Long.

Police are investigating a number of other individuals involved.
