Sick leave benefits for restaurant workers

With low wages, service workers lose income when sick. Who covers sick leave: the employer or social security?

I'm a server at a small restaurant in Hanoi's suburbs. My salary isn't high, but my employer pays social security contributions, so I've felt secure. Recently, I developed pneumonia and my doctor ordered more than a week off work for treatment. Without income and facing medical expenses, I'm worried.

I've heard the 2024 Social Security Law took effect on 1/7/2025, with new regulations on sick leave. I'm a low-wage worker at a small business, but I contribute to social security. Do I qualify for sick leave benefits, or is this for other groups?

If I'm eligible, how are benefits calculated? Is it based on my insured salary or other criteria? Does my employer pay, or is it directly from social security? What paperwork do I need to apply?
