According to the indictment, on the morning of 20/6, Nam Can town police (now Dat Moi commune police) received a report that Loi was assaulting his mother, Le Thi Hong. When police and the local security team arrived at the house, the victim stated she had been beaten by Loi and could not move.
The task force invited him to the station for questioning. However, Loi unexpectedly grabbed a knife, chased the officers, seriously injuring Tran A Dal, and then barricaded himself inside the house for several hours.
After unsuccessful negotiations, police stormed the house, subdued Loi, and escorted him to the station. Mr. Dal was rushed to the emergency room with 64% injuries.
