A middle-aged woman in Nong Son commune lost 80 million VND after falling victim to an online dating scam. She joined a "Dating Club" on Facebook and was asked to transfer 5 million VND to be accepted.

The scammer claimed there was an "error in processing" and repeatedly asked her to transfer more money to complete the supposed additional procedures. Believing the scammer, the victim made multiple transactions, totaling 80 million VND.

On the morning of 12/8, the victim went to the Agribank Nong Son branch to transfer another 20 million VND. Bank staff noticed unusual activity and convinced her to stop the transaction. They then contacted local police.

Nong Son commune police warn the public to be wary of online scams exploiting the desire for companionship or promising quick profits. If suspicious activity is detected, they urge people to immediately contact their nearest police station for assistance.
