Nguyen Khanh Linh, 30, from Ho Chi Minh City, was diagnosed with gestational diabetes during her sixth month of pregnancy. "When the doctor told me I had to check my blood sugar multiple times daily, I was truly scared," Linh shared. "It meant painful finger pricks and meticulous record-keeping, all while my body felt heavy, my hands trembled, and I was exhausted."
Doctors warn that uncontrolled gestational diabetes can lead to serious complications for both mother and baby. Persistently high blood sugar increases risks such as preeclampsia, premature birth, or macrosomia (large baby), which can complicate delivery.
Gestational diabetes can also cause hypoglycemia, jaundice, or respiratory distress in newborns. Research indicates that children born to mothers with gestational diabetes face a higher risk of developing obesity and type 2 diabetes later in life. Therefore, managing blood sugar throughout pregnancy is crucial for safeguarding the health of both mother and child.
However, traditional blood sugar monitoring requires finger pricks to check glucose levels, which is painful and inconvenient. This often leads expectant mothers to miss critical measurements, such as after meals or during rest, and they may not detect sudden blood sugar spikes in time. Additionally, manual recording of results is time-consuming, complicating doctors' ability to track and assess patient progress.
After her doctor introduced her to continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) technology, Linh decided to try FPT's 3P continuous glucose monitor. This device measures glucose levels 24/7 without blood samples and displays visual data in Vietnamese directly on a mobile app. The app sends alerts whenever blood sugar exceeds the threshold after a meal. This feature helped Linh adjust her diet, for example, by reducing white rice, adding more vegetables, or choosing less sweet fruits. "After a few weeks, my blood sugar levels stabilized, and I experienced fewer sudden post-meal spikes," she stated.

Pham Minh Trang, 28, from Hanoi, has a busy job that requires frequent travel. She felt anxious after her gestational diabetes diagnosis. "The doctor advised me to measure my blood sugar multiple times a day, but sometimes when traveling for work, I'd forget my finger-prick device," Trang recounted. "Once, a rushed measurement showed an abnormally high result, which left me worried all night."
Trang later learned about the 3P continuous glucose monitor through an expectant mothers' forum. Upon further research, she was impressed by the FPT MediCare app's integrated features. She particularly liked the "add food" feature, which provides a list of common dishes with calorie and carbohydrate information. Before eating anything, she checks it to choose appropriate meals. "This feature makes managing my diet easier and more flexible," Trang added.

Since using the 3P continuous glucose monitor, both Linh and Trang have felt more at ease. The device automatically updates glucose levels every 3 minutes, displays them clearly in Vietnamese, and provides alerts when blood sugar exceeds the set threshold.
All data is clearly presented in charts. Users can review daily blood sugar graphs, allowing them to easily assess trends in blood sugar fluctuations over time.
Furthermore, the device allows doctors and family members to monitor data remotely. This feature offers peace of mind for many families, especially when patients live alone or have relatives living far away.

An FPT representative stated: "The 3P continuous glucose monitor not only provides patients with more data but also fosters peace of mind and connection among expectant mothers, their families, and doctors. This aligns with FPT's goal of building a comprehensive digital healthcare ecosystem, empowering Vietnamese people to manage their health more proactively."
FPT anticipates that applying technology in blood sugar management will enable Vietnamese people to pursue more proactive, safe, and sustainable healthcare.
