Grab is currently promoting Vietnam's tourism at Times Square in New York, USA, from 2/12 to 12/12. This initiative aims to introduce a vibrant and culturally rich Vietnam to Manhattan, a global tourist hub. Ma Tuan Trong, Grab Vietnam's Chief Executive Officer, stated the company hopes these iconic images will inspire international visitors to choose Vietnam for their next trip. Grab intends to support travelers throughout their journey, from exploring destinations to experiencing local cuisine.
This activity is part of Grab's December promotional campaign, bringing tropical Southeast Asian vibrancy to one of the world's busiest cities during the festive season. The campaign highlights Southeast Asia's diverse tourism ecosystem, featuring seven 15-second videos. Each video showcases iconic images and dishes from Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. These videos, produced with support from regional tourism promotion agencies, aim to inspire travelers to explore Southeast Asia. Since its Nasdaq listing in 2021, Grab has utilized Times Square's advertising screens to honor its Southeast Asian partners.

Grab is a leading super-app in Southeast Asia, offering delivery, mobility, and digital financial services. The application operates in over 800 cities across 8 countries: Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Daily, the platform helps millions of users order food, shop for groceries, send goods, book rides, make online payments, or access loan and insurance services, all through a single application.
International tourists visiting Southeast Asia often combine multiple countries in one trip. Through Grab, visitors can use mobility services like oto, moto, tuk-tuk, and even cyclos via the Grab Xich Lo service in Hue. They can also explore local cuisine at restaurants or through food delivery services, and make cashless payments.
In Vietnam, Grab has enhanced cooperation with local authorities to promote digital transformation across various sectors. These efforts aim to improve user experience while collaborating with agencies to create new momentum for sustainable socio-economic development. In tourism, Grab signed agreements with Hue, Da Nang, the Hai Phong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism. These agreements aim to accelerate digital transformation in local tourism, supporting businesses and small traders in improving digital skills. Such collaborations enable specialized units and Grab to coordinate projects that foster effective, sustainable tourism growth for localities.
Ma Tuan Trong stated that Grab is collaborating with tourism departments in key cities nationwide to boost local tourism growth through digital transformation. He added, "This includes utilizing Grab's communication channels to promote local heritage and cuisine."
Tran Thi Hoai Tram, Director of the Hue City Department of Tourism, expressed honor that the cyclo, a symbol of Hue's beauty, was featured in Times Square. Grab Xich Lo, launched last August, marks a significant step in digitally transforming traditional transport in Hue. Tram noted, "Through cooperation with Grab, many meaningful projects will continue to be implemented to promote local cuisine and indigenous tourism experiences, thereby creating strong momentum for the tourism industry and contributing to Hue's socio-economic development."
