At the "Forest Blessing Ceremony" event on 16/1, Omo, a brand of Unilever Vietnam International Company Limited, donated seed balls of rare tree species such as mun (Diospyros mun), go bien (Sindora siamensis var. siamensis), and thanh that (Ailanthus triphysa). The donation was made to the national park located in Thai An hamlet, Vinh Hai commune, Khanh Hoa province.

Under the message "Do good, don't fear dirt" (Dirt for Good), the campaign "Omo's Million Green Seedlings, Reforesting Vietnam" began in the early days of the new year. Throughout the Tet holiday season, the brand will implement various activities, from screening promotional films to designing immersive nature and music experiences, aiming to raise awareness about forest protection.
Given Nui Chua - Phuoc Binh National Park's steep terrain, numerous cliffs, and difficult-to-access areas, the seed balls are encased in a mixture of nutrients and soil. This protects them from natural elements and reduces consumption by birds and animals. Additionally, the balls retain moisture during the rainy season, promoting germination, increasing tree regeneration, and closely mimicking natural seed dispersal processes.
Event organizers also tested dispersing some seed balls using unmanned aerial vehicles (drones). This method allows for rapid tree planting over large areas, suitable for challenging terrain. It also reduces labor costs and minimizes human intrusion into the forest. Drones can be programmed to disperse at precise locations and adjust density per area, making it a sustainable solution that is easily scalable for each forest restoration phase.

At the event, guests from the Department of Forestry and Forest Protection (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment), Nui Chua - Phuoc Binh National Park, along with various artists, travel bloggers, and nature-loving families, directly connected with nature. They experienced making seed balls and contributed to the number of trees donated. According to the brand, this activity serves as a new educational approach, inspiring the community to participate in environmental protection and restoration in Vietnam.

Previously, in 2022, Omo piloted drone seed ball dispersal technology and also donated 20,000 rare tree seed balls to Nui Chua - Phuoc Binh National Park. This program contributed to strengthening vegetation cover and improving Vietnam's unique coastal dry forest ecosystem.

An Omo representative stated that through this event, the brand aims to convey a message to the community: the milestone of 1 million trees planted during the 2021-2025 phase is not an end, but a driving force for Omo to continue its goal of planting another 1 million trees in the next five years. This initiative contributes to combating climate change and protecting biodiversity in Vietnam's forests. The continued partnership with authorities, communities, and consumers, who were instrumental in the success of the "Acting for a Green Vietnam" journey over the past five years, will remain a key factor for the next five-year journey to reach its goal.
