Recognizing a biological sister after two years as colleagues

Working together at Manchester Airport, Dave Green and Andrea Urmston discovered their close colleague was a blood relative.

Dave Green, 60, and Andrea Urmston, 53, met at Manchester Airport in 2005. Dave worked as a bus station manager, while Andrea was responsible for stocking vending machines. Their friendship began after Dave offered Andrea a parking spot.

Over the next two years, they became close friends, sharing a common interest in motorbikes. Andrea often joked that they were like siblings.

In 2007, Dave shared that he had been adopted as a child. Upon hearing his story, Andrea mentioned that her family also had a lost brother named Stuart who had been adopted at a young age.

Coincidentally, Dave's birth name was Stuart Proudlove.

To verify the connection, Andrea called her mother, Susan. The details Susan provided, including a birth date of 24/3/1966 and the hospital of birth, matched the information Dave had about himself.

Susan recounted that she had given birth to a son when she was just 15 years old and had to give him up for adoption due to difficult circumstances. For many years, she had sought help from various organizations to find her son, but without success.

After confirming their blood relationship, Andrea drove her brother home to meet their mother. During the journey, Dave realized the route was familiar. For years, he had regularly driven his bus past his birth mother's house and the school his sister attended.

"My mother hugged me and said Andrea had fulfilled her promise to find her brother, a promise she had made when she was six years old", Dave recounted.

Dave and Andrea currently live together in the Kidsgrove area of Staffordshire. Their mother passed away a few years ago.

In late July, the BBC Breakfast program aired the story of the siblings' chance reunion, which quickly gained traction across various social media platforms.
