12-year-old girl electrocuted at soccer field

A 12-year-old girl was electrocuted after touching a light pole at a soccer field in Son Hong commune.

Around 8 p.m. on 20/7, the girl and a friend went to play at a soccer field near her home in the former Son Linh commune. Thirty minutes later, while standing at the corner of the field near the main road, she touched a metal light pole and collapsed, unconscious.

Approximately 10 people were relaxing and exercising around the soccer field at the time. They rushed the girl to the hospital, but she was pronounced dead.

Authorities in Son Hong commune investigated the scene and determined that the light pole at the soccer field had a 200V electrical leak, leading to the accident.

The light pole, which is over 6 meters tall, was purchased and installed by the village for illumination. Son Hong commune police are investigating the incident.
