148 communes and wards in Phu Tho province after merger

After merging with Hoa Binh and Vinh Phuc, the new Phu Tho province has 148 communes and wards. Xuan Dai is the largest, spanning over 209 km2, while Au Co is the smallest at 12.51 km2.

The new Phu Tho province covers an area of over 9,300 km2 and has a population of over 4 million. Its diverse terrain encompasses mountains, midlands, and plains, facilitating economic diversification and spatial development planning. The administrative center is Viet Tri City, approximately 120 km from the current Hoa Binh City and over 20 km from Vinh Yen City (Vinh Phuc).

The new Phu Tho province comprises 148 communes and wards. Xuan Dai commune is the largest, covering over 209 km2, followed by Quy Duc and Tam Hong, each nearly 147 km2, and Tan Lac and Tan Pheo, each spanning 139 km2.

In terms of population, the most populous areas are Hoa Binh ward with over 78,600 people, Vinh Phuc ward with over 78,300, Phu Tho ward with 73,000, Ky Son with 63,900, and Hung Vuong with 58,548.

Vinh Phuc ward has the highest population density with 3,098 people/km2, followed by Hung Vuong ward with 2,991 people/km2. Quy Duc commune has the lowest population density at 64 people/km2.

The merger of Hoa Binh, Vinh Phuc, and Phu Tho creates a diverse cultural landscape, encompassing the Hung Kings worshiping belief, the ancient Hoa Binh culture, Muong culture, and the Red River Delta culture, rich in folk beliefs.

The new province boasts numerous famous tourist attractions, such as: Den Hung, Tay Thien, Thac Bo, Tam Dao, Mai Chau, Xuan Son National Park, and Hoa Binh Lake. It also has a convenient transportation system connecting to the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway and National Highways 2, 6, and 32.
