30,000-seat grandstand erected for A80 celebrations

Hanoi is rushing to install a 30,000-seat grandstand in Ba Dinh Square and widen surrounding roads for the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on 2/9 (A80).

Two grandstands are being erected along Doc Lap Street near the National Assembly building for attendees of the ceremony.

Starting 9/6, Hanoi began construction on the southern side of Ba Dinh Square. The project includes demolishing four old villas, expanding four rows of grass southward from the central lawn, and installing security fences along Doc Lap Street and the One Pillar Pagoda area.

Five levels of sturdy scaffolding ensure safety and capacity for 30,000 guests.

The main stage, next to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, has been finished.

Communication and broadcasting systems have been enhanced to support the event organization and ensure security and communications.

Workers are securing plastic chairs to the scaffolding.

The A80 ceremony will be held on the morning of 2/9 in Ba Dinh Square. Following the traditional torch procession, flag salute, announcements, and introductions, the military and civilian parade will commence at 7:45 a.m.

Six groups will participate in the parade: the traditional torchbearers and honor guard; the artillery salute; the air force flyover; the military and civilian march; the background participants; and the formation and lettering group.

One section of the grandstand, with rows of blue seats, has been completed. Nearby, four large LED screens have been installed.

To stay on schedule, workers are working multiple shifts, regardless of the weather.

Military engineers are sweeping the square for mines.

The parade will include four ceremonial blocks; 43 blocks representing armed forces (26 army, 17 police), including a foreign military contingent; military artillery and specialized police vehicles; a naval parade; 12 civilian blocks; and a cultural and sports village block.

The flower garden opposite the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been trimmed to widen the road. Several roads around Ba Dinh Square have also had their medians removed, sidewalks repaved, and road markings redrawn.
