5 girls die in Lam Dong lake

5 students from Nam N'Dir Secondary School in Nam Nung commune drowned while swimming in Y Thinh lake on the morning of 10/7.

The victims were identified as: Dang Minh Thu, Ly Thi Yen Chi, Ban Minh Thu, Ly Thi Ngan, and Ban Thi Nhu Y, all 16 years old and residents of Quang Ha village.

According to the Nam Nung Commune People's Committee, at approximately 10:00 a.m. on 10/7, 8 students from Nam N'Dir Secondary School, all also residing in Quang Ha village, went to swim in Y Thinh lake, located in Bon Dak Pri.

While in the water, 5 of the students unfortunately drowned. The 3 other students, who remained on the shore without entering the water, immediately ran to call adults for help upon realizing what had happened.

Nam Nung commune authorities mobilized police forces, the Commune Military Command, and local residents to organize a search.

By noon that day, authorities recovered the bodies of all 5 students and handed them over to their families for funeral arrangements.

The Commune People's Committee has since directed specialized units to coordinate with Quang Ha village authorities to support the victims' families with funeral arrangements and implement regulated assistance policies.

The cause of the incident is under ongoing investigation by authorities.
